Hello! Long time no see, huh? I have good excuses for not posting to the blog in so long, but rather than go on and on about them, I’ll just narrow it down to two things and then let you have a look for yourself (:

1. J and I are packing it all up and moving to Georgia this summer! We are going to miss Chicago {a lot} but we’re also so excited to move closer to our families and old friends. Having said that, moving is very time consuming, and is sort of like having a second job.

2. I am packing up the business and moving… that’s right! A new name, a new logo, a new website, a new Facebook page – and of course a new blog. Check out the newness:

Every piece of the new, improved business is being unveiled as it is ready. You can already “like” me on the new Facebook page {please do!}. And, as of right now, you can un-bookmark this blog and start following the new one:

ai {the blog}.

Isn’t it so much better already?! Make sure to update your blog readers and blog rolls, etc… with the new link (: I look forward to seeing you all over there.

Alla needed some headshots for a business and website she’s starting soon. Love helping small businesses get going (:

This weekend J and I went on our first snowshoeing adventure of 2011. It was fun, and a great workout! I documented the outing with the Fuji Instax. If you want to see more, head on over to flickr (:

Generally when I’m out and about with the camera, I’ll snap some pics of the city from wherever I happen to be, just for fun, for practice, or to test my settings before a session. I happen to need to show a few of them to someone now, so I thought posting them here might be the easiest way to do that. I thought you guys might enjoy them, too (:

Here’s a little preview from my first family session of 2011. Seriously, I never get tired of photographing adorable kids. Especially those with an appreciation for modern art (: Mark gave me and his family a nice tour of the Modern Wing at the Art Institute last weekend.

And I had to add this one of the family, complete with aunt and grandmother. Can’t you just tell he is one very loved little kid?!

This weekend I went to the Art Institute (one of my favorite Chicago places – wish I could have renewed my membership this year!). The first thing I saw when I walked in was the exhibit Public Notice 3 by Jitish Kallat. I thought it was cool and very well done. A nice juxtaposition with the traditional grand staircase. Go see it! It’s a nice indoor activity (and the museum is free on weekdays through February 4th!).

Yes. This teen’s birthday party was a fun as it looks. Mom asked me to set up the photo booth, in addition to doing some candids of the girls. Hosted at Evanston Print and Paper, the girls ate pizza, sang at the top of their lungs, danced like crazy, had makeup makeovers by a professional makeup artist, and screen-printed their own pillowcases, before heading home for a sleepover. Isn’t that the funnest girlie birthday party ever? The evidence is in the pictures, people (:

If you’re interested in having the photo booth bring out the silliness at your next party, just let me know!

Happy 2011!! After a lovely, relaxing holiday, J and I ended up in Rome last week. My mind has still not completely absorbed all that I saw and learned. It was the perfect beginning to the new year, and I thought it would also be the perfect way to kick off the blog in 2011 (:

If you want to see (many) more photos from my trip, you can find them in this Flickr set. Enjoy!

I love photographing families in their homes – seems to help relax everyone and makes for beautiful, authentic images. Little miss Frankie showed me around… Christmas tree, stockings, her lovely nursery, and the snowy balcony. The cutest hostess ever. Words cannot even express how adorable and sweet Frankie is. I could have photographed her and those beautiful blue eyes all day long.

The moon, taken on a country road somewhere in Georgia last week. I miss that place!!
