I love it when the folks from the Chicago Antique Market call on me to take photos… they always have something interesting going on, and at the very least I get to spend a couple hours wandering around the market taking pictures of cool antiques and vintage pieces and meet some new and interesting people.

Last weekend we did some “back to school/get your office ready for fall” images (I can’t believe it’s almost that time of year again… already).

Of course this little sewing kit has nothing to do with the theme, but I thought it was adorable. Not that I can sew or anything (:

The Market sets up shop on the last weekend of the month (through October) at the Randolph Street Market District. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in town!

After a lot of rescheduling (gotta love the Chicago weather…), I got to photograph the J family last week. They were definitely worth the wait – such a fun, loving, energetic, and beautiful family. I just had to post a little preview for mom and dad, even though I’ve barely begun to process their images!

Another cute two-year-old (almost three!): Big Sis Z… love those curls!!

And new Baby Brother L… the happiest newborn ever.

I’m just getting started, so more previews from this session are to come….

city|view photography has a new mailing address and a new email address!

If you’re on my email list, you’ll soon be receiving an email from me with the new information. If you are a client or vendor who needs to mail something to me, let me know and I’ll make sure you have the new mailing address.

J and I are excited about the move, but we sure are going to miss this colorful view of the fireworks at Navy Pier every Wednesday and Saturday evening (J took these pictures – aren’t they great?!).

This summer, I have had so much fun photographing two year olds… I love this age because they really have no concept of what’s going on and after the first few minutes they completely ignore me and go about the usual business of a two-year-old: playing. That means I show up at the session and play, too – and I get pictures of them just being two…. energetic and curious and CUTE!!

A montage of the terrific twos from the last month or two…

Couples are a lot of fun to photograph – maybe it’s because they have someone to interact with so the opportunities for real, candid moments are greater. They have something to focus on besides the camera in their face (:

Chicago in the summer is like no other place I’ve been… the City goes to such lengths to entertain us and encourage us to enjoy the nice weather before another long winter sets in. I for one try to take advantage of as many of these opportunities as I can (and of course I try to take the old camera with me!).

Yesterday afternoon I walked down to Millennium Park (the Chase Promenade to be exact although I had no idea that particular area had a name) to see Strange Fruit. Strange Fruit is a group from Australia that performs from atop flexible fiberglass poles. It’s really a fun thing to see and worth a trip to the park if you’re in the area (it’s right next to “the bean”) and there are several shows a day through July 14th.

As you can see, I just happen to have the camera with me (: Something about these guys and gals (well, one gal… I’m pretty sure the “gal” in the red dress was a guy) just screamed vintage to me, so I put them in CS3 and tried to give some of them an old feel.

It was a bright, HOT, sunny day so the “bean” was reliable for some sun flare, which was fine with me.

Not only do I love taking pictures, I love looking at pictures. And like many photographers, I spend a lot of time looking at other peoples’ pictures for inspiration, and to support their work. Today I came across this blog from the Boston Globe’s website, called The Big Picture that posts photo essays about various subjects (today’s topic, for example, is the wildfires out West) and I spent waaaay too much time looking at them today.

Thought you guys might enjoy this, too. I’m off to add it to my Google Reader….

…posting a few more of T from this weekend. Ah, to be a teenager again! They are so fun to photograph – especially high school seniors because they are so excited about all of the adventures about to come their way after high school. They are the future, you know. (:

Chicago has so many great places for photographs. Seems every time I leave the house I find a new place and file it away for later use.

Enjoy!
