This photo was taken back in the spring while I was scouting a location (Adler Planetarium/Northerly Island area). At first I was annoyed that the truck drove into my shot but there’s something about it I like (:

Have a great weekend!

I’m taking a week or so off of photo sessions in an effort to get caught up. In the meantime, I’ll post some images from a folder on my desktop entitled “Random Photos.” (: This particular image was taken in Grant Park, near Buckingham Fountain. I was testing the lighting and adjusting camera settings during a family session. When I saw this one, I knew I had everything right!

These two have grown up so much since I photographed them last year. Pretty sure Liam will be POTUS when he’s old enough (he wears a tie EVERY.DAY – seven days a week!!). I think I could have spent the entire day having serious conversations and hunting for purple flowers with them. They were so cute, sometimes I had to remind myself that I was there to photograph them, and not for a play date.

Already looking forward to photographing them next year (:

Meet Patrick. He showed me around his cute nursery and then took me on a little outdoor adventure at the grounds of the Lincoln Park Conservatory. How can I not love a job that allows me to get outside and enjoy these beautiful sunny days we’ve been having, while hanging out with some of the cutest kids and nicest families around?!

Earlier this week I met up with these cuties at Buckingham Fountain. This was my third time photographing Dominic, and my second photographing Madeline. We always end up at the best Chicago-y locations for their sessions. I couldn’t believe how much they had both grown since their last session. Still as cute as ever, though, don’t you think?

Have a great weekend!!

I met up with Nicole at Humboldt Park last week for an OpLove session with daughter Jessica. We embraced the beautiful sunshine and scenery and ended up with some great images to send to Dad to enjoy while he’s deployed overseas. It was a joy to work with Nicole & Jessica and an honor to give a tiny bit back to this family (: I’ll be putting more from this session on the city|view Facebook page later today.

I had a session in Humboldt Park earlier this week (sneak peek coming soon!) and stayed afterward a few minutes to grab some images of the park, since I’d never been there before. I’m always amazed at the parks in Chicago – there are so many and they are perfect little escapes from all of the concrete (:

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” {Ralph Waldo Emerson}

There are a few more pics from Humboldt Park in my Chicago 2010 Flickr set.

Pulling Down the Moon needed some yoga-themed photos for their studio, and I was happy to oblige (: Thanks to my good friends Jeni (a yoga instructor at Pulling Down the Moon) and Gwen (who is running the Chicago MARATHON this weekend!) for being beautiful models and good sports!! You can see more from this session in my flickr set.

Now, don’t you feel relaxed?

I randomly came across this quote the other day and thought it was appropriate: “A photographer gets people to pose for him. A yoga instructor gets people to pose for themselves.” {Terri Guillemets}

I would like to interrupt regularly scheduled programming to brag on my sister, Becca (: I mean, we all know the girl can sew (and draw, and paint, and the list goes on).

A few years ago, she started taking pottery classes in Chicago and I totally remember looking at the first mugs she brought home (some of which I still use regularly for my morning coffee and afternoon tea), and thinking they were so awesome. And they were, of course. But when I see what she’s working on now… it’s crazy-good. Amazing. I want each and every piece.

Love her work? You can keep up to date here!! Her photos are perfection, too, don’t you think?

…or was it three? We’ve been trying to get this fun family photographed since MAY! On our first attempt we were interrupted by heavy rain about 20 minutes into it. Then there was at least one other attempt that had to be rescheduled because of rain before it even got started. Third times a charm, though. And honestly, I’m sort of glad we had to wait because when I showed up last weekend, Quinn was walking!! He had just taken his first steps a few days before. It was so cute to see him wobbling around and his parents and big sis, Lillie, were so excited. So, thanks Mom & Dad Sullivan for your patience (: I had such a great time with your stylish little family!
